“The Isle Is Full of Noises”

‘The Isle Is Full of Noises’ was commissioned to be part of Hearing Voices: Suffering, Inspiration and the Everyday at Palace Green Library, Durham. The sound and animation were created thanks to the generous participation of five people came to workshops in Durham in summer 2017 to discuss their experiences. The piece was commissioned by Hearing the Voice, Durham University.

Thanks to Shannon Taylor, Judy Christian and Tamsyn Adams for their collaboration and support on the animation. To Peter Burgess for the use of his poem ‘Gentle Mother’. To the anonymous artists who contributed their workshop drawings and also the ‘Hopebird’ textile. To Chris Letcher for mastering the sound and encouraging my first attempt at animation. And to Ruby Hamill for her water-flute (both invention and performance).
